This article sets out the political relationship between India and Argentina: the Strategic Partnership, the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, visits at the level of heads of state and government, ministerial meetings and the dialogue mechanisms that bring the two governments together. It is based on the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) bilateral brief of June 2026, and office holders are named with the title and date the brief gives them.
Strategic Partnership and 75 years of relations
According to the MEA brief of June 2026, India-Argentina diplomatic relations were elevated to the level of Strategic Partnership during the State Visit to India of the then President of Argentina in February 2019. The brief describes the two countries as bound by shared values, mutual respect, understanding and respect for rule of law, and says they have enjoyed "cohesive and strong relations spread across wide spectrum of sectors".
The two countries completed 75 years of their diplomatic relationship on 3 February 2024. Several events were organised during 2024 to mark the anniversary, culminating in the launch on 19 December 2024 of a commemorative book titled "India-Argentina: 75 Años de Relaciones Diplomáticas" (India-Argentina: 75 Years of Diplomatic Relations).
