Contact details come from the MEA Protocol Division register, read on 24 September 2026.

The register lists the following details for the Embassy:

  • Address: F-3/3, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi-110057
  • Telephone: +91-11- 40781900

Head of mission

The register names H.E. Mr. Mariano Agustin Caucino, Ambassador, as the head of mission. Anyone writing to the Embassy on formal matters should confirm the current office holder with the Embassy, since appointments change.

Consulate General in Mumbai

Outside New Delhi, the register lists one Argentine consulate in India, in Mumbai. According to the MEA brief of June 2026, Argentina has had a Consulate General in Mumbai since April 2009. The register lists no honorary consulate of Argentina in any Indian city.

The brief does not say how consular work is divided between the Embassy and the Consulate General. Applicants should ask the Embassy which office handles their case before sending documents.

How Argentina's representation in India developed

The brief records that Argentina established a Consulate in Kolkata in the 1920s, which was shifted to Delhi as an embassy in 1950. The Consulate General in Mumbai, opened in April 2009, is the more recent of the two offices the register now lists.

India's Embassy in Buenos Aires

India opened a Trade Commission in Buenos Aires in 1943. It was later converted, in 1949, into one of the first embassies of India in South America.

The brief describes the Indian Embassy in Buenos Aires as active in support of business. It states that the mission has maintained active interactions with representatives of Indian companies in Argentina and with Indian companies interested in expanding business there.

The Embassy has organised, coordinated and taken part in interactions with bodies including FICCI, CII, FIEO, the Electronics and Software Council of India (ESC), PHDCCI, the Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Services (CACS), the Argentine Chamber of Software Industry (CESSI), the Latin American Integration Association (ALADI), Exim Bank and various Argentine banks. It has also held buyer-seller meets for members of the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts, ESC and CESSI, and the Chemical and Allied Products Export Council (CAPEXIL), besides coffee promotion events.

Indian citizens in Argentina, and Indian companies considering the Argentine market, should approach the Embassy of India in Buenos Aires.

National day

The register gives Argentina's national day as 25 May (Anniversary of the Revolution of May).

Visas and travel

The MEA brief of June 2026 contains no information on visas, e-visas, consular procedures or air connectivity between India and Argentina. Indian citizens planning travel to Argentina should check current visa requirements with the Embassy of the Argentine Republic in New Delhi or the Consulate General in Mumbai. Argentine citizens planning travel to India should check current requirements through India's official visa channels or the Embassy of India in Buenos Aires.

Travellers should check current flight options directly with airlines.

Honorary consuls

Honorary consuls have limited powers and cannot offer the full range of services of an embassy or consulate general. Argentina has none listed in India, and in every case visa, passport and other consular requirements should be confirmed directly with the Embassy of the Argentine Republic in New Delhi or its Consulate General in Mumbai.
