Privacy notice

What we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do. Written to meet the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

Who we are

Diplo (diplo.in) is operated by Bitola Industries Pvt Ltd. For any privacy question or request, write to us through the contact form or at office@diplo.in.

What we collect and why

  • Updates you ask for. Your email address, the countries and topics you choose, and optionally your name and the kind of reader you are. Used only to send those updates. Missions see totals, never your details.
  • Event registrations and invitation replies. Your name, email, and optionally organisation and designation. Shared with the host of that event only.
  • Enquiries to a mission. Your name, email, organisation and message. Passed to that mission only.
  • Translator applications and profiles. The details you submit. Your profile text, city, languages and services are published once approved. Your phone number and email are never published.
  • Requests to a translator. Your request and contact details. Shared with that translator; your contact details are shared only if they accept.
  • Page access requests from missions. Name, designation, official email and phone, used to verify the request.
  • Security records. Your IP address with each submission, used to prevent abuse and kept for no longer than needed for that purpose.

We do not sell personal data, show advertising or use tracking cookies. Diplo sets only the cookies needed for signing in to the consoles.

Consent and withdrawal

We process your data on the basis of the consent you give on each form. You can withdraw it at any time: every update email has a link to change or stop your updates, and you can ask us to delete anything else.

How long we keep it

  • Unconfirmed update sign-ups are deleted after 14 days.
  • Other data is kept while the purpose continues, such as an upcoming event or an active profile, and deleted on request.

Your rights

You can ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you, for corrections, and for erasure. You can also nominate another person to exercise your rights. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.

Service providers

Emails are sent through a transactional email provider acting on our instructions. Data is stored on servers operated for Diplo and protected with access controls, encrypted connections and two-step verification for every account that can see it.
