It was intended for training IT professionals in Jordan over a period of 5 years and for the training of master trainers from Jordan in premium IT fields.
The Indian-Jordan Center of Excellence in Information Technology (IJCOEIT), which the brief calls a next generation IT facility, was inaugurated at Al-Hussein Technical University on 2 October 2021. It was set up pursuant to an MoU signed during the King's visit to India in March 2018, with the objective of developing and strengthening software expertise in Jordan in premium fields. The brief states that the Centre is fully funded by the Government of India and is equipped with IT infrastructure, including the PARAM Shavak supercomputer, and advanced training facilities.
The Government of India conducts master trainer courses for Jordanian experts in emerging fields such as Cyber Security, Web Development, Machine Learning and Big Data Analytics. These experts in turn train Jordanian youth at the Centre. The brief states that it is envisioned that 3000 Jordanian experts and professionals will be nurtured at the Centre.
On the sidelines of the 4th round of Foreign Office Consultations in Amman, Secretary (CPV & OIA) and JS (WANA) visited the Centre.
