This article gives the contact details of the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in New Delhi, the Indian cities where Viet Nam has a consulate or honorary consulates, and Viet Nam's national day, together with the visa and air connectivity facts in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) bilateral brief of May 2026. Contact details are taken from the MEA Protocol Division register, read on 24 September 2026. India and Viet Nam have had full diplomatic relations since 07 January 1972.

Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, New Delhi

The register lists the following details for the Embassy:

  • Address: EP-7A, Chandragupta Marg, Chankyapuri, New Delhi-110021
  • Telephone: +91-11-26879868
  • Email: office@vietnamembassydelhi.in
  • Website: vietnamembassydelhi.in

The address is given here exactly as the register spells it.

Consulate and honorary consulates

Outside New Delhi, the register lists a consulate of Viet Nam in Mumbai. It also lists honorary consulates of Viet Nam in three Indian cities:

  • Bengaluru
  • Chennai
  • Gandhinagar

The register lists these offices by city only. Their street addresses, telephone numbers and the areas each office serves should be obtained from the Embassy, which can also say which office handles a particular matter.

National day

The register gives Viet Nam's national day as 2 September (Independence Day).

Visas

According to the MEA brief of May 2026, a simplified visa regime offering e-Visa in both directions supports travel and tourism between the two countries for leisure, business and culture. The brief gives no detail on visa categories, documents, fees or processing times.

Indian citizens planning travel to Viet Nam should check current requirements with the Embassy in New Delhi or the consulate in Mumbai. Vietnamese citizens planning travel to India should check them through India's official visa channels.

Flights between India and Viet Nam

The brief states that, as of May 2026, around 90 direct flights operate every week between six Indian cities (Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad) and Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. It names the Vietnamese airlines as VietJet and Viet Nam Airlines, and the Indian airlines operating in Vietnam as "Air India & Akasa (to commence soon) and Indigo".

In its section on trade, the brief gives route details:

  • Indigo Airlines operates daily flights between Kolkata and Hanoi, and between Kolkata and Ho Chi Minh City, and weekly flights between Delhi and Hanoi.
  • Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet operate direct flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

The two passages differ on the Indian cities served: the weekly total covers six cities without Kochi, while the route list includes Kochi. Schedules change, so travellers should confirm current routes and frequencies with the airlines.

Indian nationals in Viet Nam

Most of the nearly 8,000 Indian nationals in Viet Nam live in and around Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, according to the brief. The brief does not give contact details for India's own missions in Viet Nam, so Indian nationals there who need help from their government should obtain them from official Indian government sources.

Before visiting an office

Addresses, telephone numbers and consular arrangements can change after 24 September 2026, the date on which the register was read. Readers should confirm the details above with the Embassy, for example through its website, before visiting or sending documents.

Honorary consuls

Honorary consuls have limited powers and cannot offer the full range of services of an embassy or a career consulate. Visa, passport and other consular requirements should in every case be confirmed with the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in New Delhi or its consulate in Mumbai.
