  • Kolkata
  • Mumbai

The brief states that the Slovak Republic maintains Honorary Consulates in Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata, and that the Kolkata office is the latest, opened in March 2025. Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar inaugurated the Honorary Consulate of Slovakia in Kolkata on March 20, during his visit to India for the Raisina Dialogue 2025.

The addresses and telephone numbers that the MEA register lists for these offices are shown on the Slovakia country page on Diplo. Readers should ask the Embassy which office can help with their matter.

National day

The national day of Slovakia is 1 January (Day of the Establishment of the Slovak Republic).

India's embassy in Slovakia

India established its resident Mission in Bratislava in August 1995. Indian nationals in Slovakia who need help from their own government should approach the Embassy of India there.

The brief states that the Embassy of India maintains regular contact with Indian students in Slovakia and invites them to National Day celebrations and other occasions. Figures for students and the wider Indian community are given in this guide's article on culture, education and the Indian community.

Consular cooperation in 2022

The brief records one instance of consular cooperation. In March 2022, the Union Minister of Law and Justice, Shri Kiren Rijiju, visited Slovakia as the Special Envoy of the Prime Minister to oversee the evacuation of Indian students from Ukraine through Slovakia.

Visas and consular matters

The MEA brief does not describe visa, e-visa or other consular arrangements for travel between India and Slovakia, and it does not mention air connectivity. This guide therefore does not state any visa requirements, fees, processing times or eligibility rules.

Travellers, students, workers and business visitors should check current requirements directly with the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in New Delhi before making plans. The Embassy's website is the appropriate starting point.

Honorary consuls

Honorary consuls have limited powers and do not offer the full range of services provided by an embassy. Visa, passport and other consular requirements should always be confirmed with the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in New Delhi, even where an honorary consulate is closer.
