This guide gives the contact details of the Embassy of Mexico in New Delhi, the Indian cities with a Mexican consulate or honorary consulate, Mexico's national day, and the consular and visa information in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) brief of July 2026. Contact details are taken from the MEA Protocol Division register, read on 24 September 2026.

The Embassy of Mexico in New Delhi

The register gives the Embassy's details as follows:

  • Address: F 9/5, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi-110057
  • Telephone: +91-11-24117180, 81, 83
  • Email: contactoembind@sre.gob.mx
  • Website: embamex.sre.gob.mx/india

The register entry used for this guide does not name a current head of mission. It also gives no office hours, and this guide does not list them.

These details are as recorded in the register on 24 September 2026. Telephone numbers, email addresses and websites of missions can change, and the MEA Protocol Division register is the official Indian record to check against if the details above no longer work.

Consulate and honorary consulates

According to the register, Mexico has a Consulate in Mumbai. Unlike the offices listed below, it is recorded in the register as a consulate rather than an honorary consulate. According to the MEA brief of July 2026, it opened in 2023.

The register lists honorary consulates of Mexico in:

  • Bengaluru
  • Chennai
  • Goa

The brief notes that the honorary consulate in Chennai opened in September 2016. The brief's own list of honorary consulates names Kolkata, Chennai and Goa, while the register, read later, names Bengaluru, Chennai and Goa. Readers in Kolkata or Bengaluru should confirm the current position with the Embassy.

National day

Mexico's national day is 16 September (Independence Day).

Consular Dialogue

The first bilateral Consular Dialogue was held in Mexico City on 17 October 2014. The 2nd Consular Dialogue was hosted by India in virtual format on 12 November 2020.

Visas

The brief records three visa arrangements:

  • Under a bilateral agreement signed in October 2005, holders of diplomatic and official passports are exempted from visas for a stay of a maximum of 90 days.
  • Persons of any nationality holding a valid visa of the USA or Canada, or a resident permit of the UK or the Schengen Area, do not require a visa to enter Mexico for tourism, transit and business purposes for up to 180 days.
  • Mexico is included in the list of countries whose citizens are eligible for India's online Electronic Tourist Visa (eTV).

As the brief words it, the second arrangement applies to persons of any nationality who hold one of the documents listed. The third concerns travel to India: Mexican citizens are eligible to apply online for India's Electronic Tourist Visa, and the brief does not describe its terms.

The brief does not set out other visa requirements for Indian nationals travelling to Mexico, or for Mexican nationals travelling to India on other types of visa. It also gives no fees or processing times. Readers should check current requirements with the Embassy of Mexico, or with the Consulate in Mumbai, before travelling to Mexico.

India and Mexico have an Extradition Treaty and an Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty on Criminal Matters. Both were signed during the visit of President Calderon to India in September 2007.

India's presence in Mexico

The brief refers to the Embassy of India and the Gurudev Tagore Indian Cultural Centre (GTICC), based in Mexico City. Indian nationals in Mexico should contact the Embassy of India for consular matters, and Mexican nationals in India should contact the Embassy of Mexico in New Delhi or the Consulate in Mumbai. The brief contains no information on air connections between India and Mexico.

A note on honorary consuls

Honorary consuls have limited powers. Visa, passport and other consular requirements should always be confirmed with the Embassy of Mexico in New Delhi or the Consulate in Mumbai.
