This article gives the contact details of the Embassy of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in New Delhi, its head of mission and national day, and the visa, air service, tourism and consular facts contained in the MEA brief of June 2026. The contact details and the head of mission are taken from the MEA Protocol Division register, read on 24 September 2026.

Embassy of the Lao People's Democratic Republic

The register gives these details for the embassy in New Delhi:

  • Address: S-420, Greater Kailash, Part-II, New Delhi, 110048
  • Telephone: +91-11-41327352
  • Email: laoembdelhi@gmail.com

The register lists no website for the embassy, so the telephone number and email address above are the listed channels for enquiries. Office hours and the range of services offered are not given in the register or the brief, and should be checked directly with the embassy.

Head of mission

As of 24 September 2026, the register names H.E. Mrs. Vithaya Xayavong, Ambassador, as head of mission. The name should be confirmed with the embassy, as office holders change.

Consulates and honorary consulates

The register, as read on 24 September 2026, lists no consulates and no honorary consulates of Lao PDR elsewhere in India. The embassy in New Delhi is the only Lao office in India listed in the register.

National day

The national day of Lao PDR is 2 December (National Day).

Visas and travel documents

According to the MEA brief of June 2026, India and Lao PDR have an Agreement on Exemption of Visa Requirement for holders of Diplomatic and Official Passports. It was signed on 06 November 2002 and has been effective from 01 April 2005, and it is the only visa arrangement the brief describes.

The brief does not cover visa rules for holders of ordinary passports, including tourists, students and business travellers, and it gives no information on e-visas. Anyone planning to travel to Lao PDR should check current requirements, documents and procedures with the embassy before applying.

Air services and tourism

India and Lao PDR signed an Air Services Agreement on 16 Jan 2019. The brief gives no details of routes, carriers or flight frequencies between the two countries, and travellers should check current services with airlines.

On tourism, the brief records that in 2025 a trip for travel agencies to prominent Buddhist sites in India was organised under the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation (MGC) Plan of Action (2019-24). 10 representatives from the tourism sector of Lao PDR took part.

Fake job offers and cyber-scam centres

The consular section of the brief deals with the rescue and repatriation of Indians trapped in cyber-scam centres. It states that Indian youth have been trapped by dubious agents into fake job offers and illegal work in Lao PDR.

According to the brief, recent months have seen a considerable decrease in the number of Indians trapped in this way. The brief attributes this to the closing down by the Lao authorities of the operations of all companies engaged in online gaming, call centres and scamming activities in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone.

In India, action has been taken against agents on the basis of actionable information provided by India's Mission in Lao PDR, including arrests by the NIA. The Mission, the Ministry of External Affairs and other authorities have also widely disseminated detailed advisories. Indians who are offered work in Lao PDR can consult these official advisories and India's Mission before accepting.

Honorary consuls and confirming requirements

Lao PDR has no honorary consuls listed in India. Where a country is represented by honorary consuls, their powers are limited and they do not offer the full services of an embassy. Visa, document and other consular requirements for Lao PDR should always be confirmed with the embassy in New Delhi.
